Alfred State College holds its annual Honors Convocation

Alfred State students were honored at the 41st annual Honors Convocation. Dr. Carrie Cokely, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presided over the event.

Cokely was excited to celebrate so many students for their success. “This event highlights the splendid work our students do in and outside the classroom. What a wonderful way to start the final week of the 2024-25 school year. I encourage our students returning next year to keep up the great work and wish our graduates continued success in their future endeavors.”

Alyssa James (Pittsford, NY) and John Christie (Geneseo, NY) were honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The pair were two of 193 SUNY students honored by Chancellor John B. King, Jr.

James, a graphic and media design and digital media and animation major, has been active in and outside the classroom during her time at Alfred State.

Performing Arts spring concert set for Saturday

The Alfred State Performing Arts organizations will present their annual spring concert on Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m. in the Cappadonia Auditorium.

The Alfred State Performing Arts organizations will present their annual spring concert on Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m. in the Cappadonia Auditorium.

Enjoy performances by both Instrumental Music and from Voices. Instrumental Music will present selections from stage and screen while Voices is exploring the history of protest songs and anthems. Graduating seniors Nikki Nilsen and Deanna Gannon from Instrumental Music and Sarah Miller from Voices will be performing for the last time.

Alfred State and Alfred University Announce The Alfred Cup Competition

The Alfred Cup, sponsored by the Power and Construction Group, Inc. and ServU Credit Union, will be an annual competition between Alfred University and Alfred State athletic teams.

Today, the Alfred State athletic department and the Alfred University athletic department introduced ‘The Alfred Cup’ ahead of the 2025-26 competition season.

Archers on target at East Region Championship

The Alfred State Archery team competed valiantly versus some of the top teams in the USA Archery Collegiate Outdoor East Region Championship in Harrisonburg, VA. The Pioneers hauled in seven awards and made their presence felt across the compound bow archery disciplines.

Brandon Stanton (Union Springs, NY) shot a qualification score that landed him the #1 seed in the men’s compound elimination bracket. He held off all challengers to secure the gold medal in the men’s compound division.

Overcast skies did not slow down annual Hot Dog Day festivities. Alfred State, Alfred University, and the community enjoyed the latest rendition of the tradition started in 1972.

Overcast skies did not slow down annual Hot Dog Day festivities. Alfred State, Alfred University, and the community enjoyed the latest rendition of the tradition started in 1972.

Crowds gathered on Main Street to witness the annual parade. Big Blue and a variety of Alfred State clubs and organizations took part in the parade that led to downtown festivities. A variety of vendors lined Main Street and the parking lot behind the Collegiate.

Alfred State to host groundbreaking in Wellsville

“This new space will allow us to continue our growth trajectory at Alfred State, and in this case, literally place them in the driver’s seat to become a pro. Alfred State will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Truck and Diesel Expansion on Monday, May 5. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on the Wellsville campus at 2530 River Road.

“We are excited to celebrate not only the start of construction of the added space but what the new space will mean to the educational opportunities for our current and future students,” commented Vice President of Institutional Advancement Danielle White. “This event will also allow us the opportunity to recognize the donors who made this building possible.”

Alfred State agriculture host students in NYS Animal and Agricultural Leadership Program

Twenty high school students participating in the New York State Animal and Agricultural Leadership (AAL) Program visited Alfred State recently.

Twenty high school students participating in the New York State Animal and Agricultural Leadership (AAL) Program visited Alfred State recently. The students also visited Alfred University and Lent Hill Dairy during their immersive, hands-on experience focused on preparing youth for future careers in agriculture and animal science.
