Monthly Payment Plans

What is the Monthly Payment Plan?

Alfred State offers a Monthly Payment Plan (MPP) option through Nelnet to enable families to spread educational expenses for the semester into equal monthly payments and avoid additional borrowing.   Please note Monthly Payment Plans are not available for non-matriculated students.

Enroll early each semester to take full advantage.  You can enroll online when you process your bill at my.AlfredState.edu/finances.  Veteran Monthly Payment Plan is not available online. Please call at 607-587-4253 or email us for more information on this option.

Determining Your Monthly Payment

Take your balance due for the semester after financial aid has been applied and add the $35 non-refundable application fee.  This is your total balance.

  • If you are signing up for the 4-month semester payment plan, divide your total balance by five to determine the amount of your down payment and each of your monthly payments.
  • If you are signing up for the 3-month semester payment plan, divide the balance by four to determine the amount of your down payment and each of your monthly payments.
  • If you are signing up for the Veteran's semester payment plan, divide your balance by four to determine your monthly payments.

The down payment is due when you set up the Monthly Payment Plan.  Please refer to the schedules above to determine when your monthly payments are due.
