Campus Investments

200 million in investments

Big Blue Says... Here We GROW Again!

As more and more New Pioneers join the Alfred State family, we are growing for the future. ASC is working hard not only to maintain but also to improve our campus. Over one decade from 2016 -- 2026, campus investments will surpass $200 million

Our designs are built to make the campus function well and look great. Alfred State is enhancing the beauty across our scenic campus in many ways. For example, even if improvements to underground services demand changes in landscaping, we plant more trees and add even more lush green spaces.

Facilities Services and Capital Projects staff keep the campus community updated regarding project timelines including public meetings to answer questions and share details. As each project is completed, we reap the benefits with students, faculty, and staff enjoying the upgrades.

These projects have already made a big impact and are benefiting students.

Residence
Halls

The MacKenzie Complex is reimagined and new in time for its 50th birthday. Opened in 1973 as the largest residential building in SUNY, MacKenzie now has an impressive ski lodge look as the commons and living areas have been renewed. Upgrades include a new eatery named TimberLinez and a cardio workout studio.

Hands-on labs
Civil engineering

The “Doc Bruce” lab is named in memory of a beloved professor and boasts cutting-edge technology for materials research with $100,000 in new equipment.

Hands-on labs
Heavy equipment

High tech additions put students behind the controls of $200,000 worth of heavy equipment simulators year-round and the real machines are also used outdoors.

Classes &
Study spaces

“Harris Hall” named after a successful donor and alumni is also recently upgraded. The large lecture hall also has a plush new study space in its lobby.

Athletics
Facilities

Continual upgrades include a new track and turf at Pioneer Stadium, a new strength and conditioning room, and a new suite of athletic coach offices.

Another campus addition is the Big Blue Trolley. You can't miss Big Blue with its striking design and you don't want to miss taking a ride. Ring the trolley bell when you climb aboard. It's just fun.

All-new agriculture
Science

World-renowned academic architects are bringing their A-Game to Ag Science. The facility will be all-new serving agriculture and allied health students. The use of natural woods and organic green accents will make the learning and lab spaces vibrant. A new greenhouse and plaza will be featured on its southern exposure.

Pioneer center
Re-imagined

We're not done yet with a new eatery coming soon featuring indoor and outdoor dining and conference space. Pioneer Center is already home to a modern gaming arena called The Underground, a dance studio, a performance music hall, and a barber shop to round out the new student-centered gathering places.

Infrastructure

A network of services is found underground and we're upgrading them all.

Infrastructure improvements are both those seen and the invisible, all working together to make the campus more functional, inviting, and beautiful. Some of the services we use include communications, energy, transportation, water, and drainage.

 Communications

for connecting, research, and entertainment with wi-fi and cell phones.

 Energy Distribution

powers computers, food preparation, heating, lights, and more.

 Water Supply Lines

for drinking, washing, and flushing to maintain a healthy community.

 Wastewater Systems

to manage the flow, keeping our environment safe and clean.

 Roads and Walkways

are all new and widened above the underground infrastructure.

 Scenic Beauty

is a priority with greenways and landscaping across the entire campus.

Ask any student in our Architecture, Building Trades, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Construction, Heavy Equipment, HVAC, IT: Network Administration, and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology programs. They can tell you all about the importance and functions of infrastructure.
