Alfred State College Residential Life believes that a student's residence hall experience should be as individually suited to the student's needs and interests as possible. On this basis, Alfred State offers a lifestyle approach to residence hall living.

The Alfred State College campus includes 14 residence halls with corridor, suite, and apartment-style living options. You can choose from a variety of housing options ranging from our academic or program-based living-learning communities or traditional lifestyle options such as quiet study or substance-free. These lifestyles are in designated areas within specific residence halls.

Become a Student Staff Member

Resident Assistants (RAs) are student staff members employed by the Office of Residential Services. Resident Assistants help build community by connecting students to campus resources such as the Cultural Life Center or Student Development Center, educational and social programming, and community meetings. RAs also receive regular training focusing on campus policies and procedures to support students going through a variety of difficulties. Residential Change Agent (RCA) are student staff members employed by the Office of Residential Services. Residential Change Agents work in conjunction with the Cultural Life Center to provide programming to residential students. These programs are focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics and different cultural aspects that students may encounter on campus and after graduation. For those who are interested in becoming a Residential Change Agent apply today, Residential Change Agent Application.

Residential Programming Assistant (RPA) are student staff members employed by the Office of Residential Services. Residential Programming Assistants work in our first-year residence halls (Braddon, Burdick, Peet, and Shults) completing intentional programming for our first-year and transfer students who live in these residence halls. Programs are educational and social while providing students with information regarding campus resources and general knowledge of campus life. Academic Peer Mentor (APM) are student staff members employed by the Office of Residential Services. Academic Peer Mentors work in conjunction with the Student Success Center to assist students with academic studies. Motor Vehicle Operator (Transport Team) are student staff members employed by the Office of Residential Services. Transport drivers provide transportation services to students for various services including but not limited to, doctor's appointments, the Rochester International Airport, Hornell, NY, and other local locations.
