Researching Scholarships

The Student Records and Financial Services Office recommends the following free external scholarship search services to help you in obtaining off-campus scholarships.

NOTE: This is not an all-inclusive listing of free scholarship search services. When researching scholarships, you should use your good judgment and never pay to apply for a scholarship.  Alfred State does not support any scholarship that fails to comply with federal nondiscrimination laws - including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972

  • The College Board - Find scholarships, other financial aid and internships from more than 2,200 programs, totaling nearly $6 billion.
  • Petersons.com  - Start by entering to win Peterson’s World’s Easiest Scholarship and then search their scholarship database that houses over $10 billion in private aid.
  • Scholarships.com  - Search over 3.7 million college scholarships and grants.
  • Fastweb.com – Fastweb is your connection to scholarships, colleges, financial aid, and more.
  • Chegg.com - Browse over 25,000 scholarships for students like you. 
  • Cappex.com - The nation’s largest, multi-billion dollar scholarship database.
  • Niche.com - Search lists of scholarships by choosing a category or get matched to college scholarships you are eligible for.

Numerous scholarships are given to continuing students based on their academic performance while at Alfred State. A special Honors Convocation is held each year to honor these recipients.
