James and Thompson honored by Chancellor

"It is my honor to celebrate the achievements of the nearly 200 CASE awardees as they inspire others and illustrate what is possible with a SUNY education.

Katelyn James (Buffalo, NY) and Colin Thompson (Webster, NY) were honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The pair were two of 193 SUNY students honored by Chancellor John B. King, Jr.

James, a business administration major with a minor in logistics and supply chain management, has excelled in her roles as a tutor, admissions ambassador, president of her sorority Alpha Bet Chi, resident assistant, and orientation coordinator during her time at Alfred State.

Hot Dog Day to be celebrated Saturday

“It was quite challenging at first, but through trial and error, my design represents the spirit of Hot Dog Day. My excitement is out of control with pride and joy, knowing that my artwork will not only add playful fun to this amazing event but also connect with attendees in a meaningful way.”

Alfred’s annual Hot Dog Day celebration will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20. Alfred State first-year EOP student Renee Kintner (Olean) had her design selected to be featured on the Hot Dog Day t-shirts.

Nicholas Barrett (Avoca, NY) was drawn to Alfred State for the unique combination of culinary arts and wrestling. He has been able to keep adding to his experiences with a bachelor’s degree in technology management.

“I chose Alfred State because it offered me all the classes I wanted. I enjoy cooking and baking. I got to wrestle and compete here in Division III athletics, and I knew taking a tour here this is where I wanted to be. I love the community here.”

ASC Culinary Arts students to host Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale

The Alfred State College Culinary Arts department will be hosting a drive thru Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 25. 

The Alfred State College Culinary Arts department will be hosting a drive thru Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 25. 

A personal nine-inch brick oven cheese pizza will be sold for $8. Additional toppings, pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushrooms, and peppers can be added for $.50 each.

The bakery department will also have a variety of baked goods available for sale. 

SUNY Chancellor King Celebrates Start of the Veterans Enrollment and Support Internship Program From Alfred State

"Our student veteran enrollment and support intern will bring great insight to our enrollment team as we interact with veterans that are pursuing educational opportunities. They will be able to provide recent firsthand experience and answer many of their questions based on their own experiences. We are proud of our student veterans on campus."

Alfred State hosts 2024 Skills USA Postsecondary Championship

“We had a great day of competition and I look forward to seeing our New York State team compete at Nationals,” 

NYS SkillsUSA College Postsecondary director Craig R Clark, PhD.

Alfred State College (ASC) hosted the 2024 SkillsUSA New York State Leadership and Skills Conference Postsecondary Championship, and ten students earned the right to compete at Nationals with their performance. The event, held on ASC’s Wellsville campus, featured forty students competing in one of the nation’s most prestigious showcases of career and technical aptitude.

New Recording Studio opened in Student Leadership Center

“We are proud to provide a high-quality Recording Studio space for our students to be creative. This gives our office the ability to be intentional about hands-on learning in our students’ co-curricular experience."

Alfred State celebrated the official opening of a new Recording Studio for students to produce music or podcasts. The studio adds to the various media creation tools offered to students on campus.
