Delaney Nichols wins Vanguard Award

Alfred State welding major Delaney Nichols (North Tonawanda, NY - Starpoint) has won the 2023 Vanguard award. The NET (Nontraditional Employment & Training) program presents the award annually. Nichols, who studies at Alfred State’s Northland campus is the first student at that campus to ever receive this award.

The Vanguard Award acknowledges and commends outstanding students enrolled in Tech Prep and other Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that are not traditional for their gender.

WNY Works builds skills to launch fulfilling careers

“WNY Works is a collaborative effort to heighten awareness and interest in associate degrees, certificates, and non-credit training to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for individuals to launch high-demand careers. New Solar farm in Alfred has Alfred State ties

Tyler Uebelhoer did not attend Alfred State but has become a huge fan of the renewable energy education taught on campus. Uebelhoer and his company Buffalo Solar recently completed work on a community solar farm in Alfred.

Canfield earns silver medal at SkillsUSA National Championships – Four Pioneers place in top ten

Alfred State College (ASC) sent a group of eleven (seven students and four faculty/administrators) to the 2022 SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, GA. Devon Canfield (Buffalo) led the way by earning a silver medal in the automotive service technology competition.

Given annually, the Advising Excellence award recognizes Alfred State college faculty advisors who have gone above and beyond to positively impact a student’s college experience. Students nominated the honorees and a professor from each of the college’s three schools were honored.

The 2021 SkillsUSA New York State Leadership and Skills Conference Postsecondary Championship was held on the Wellsville campus.

Alfred State College is proud to announce that two of its students, Emily Clough and Errol Mars, have been named recipients of the Vanguard Award for the 2020-2021 academic year.

This honor recognizes outstanding post-secondary-level students enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare them for careers that are not traditional for their gender. A nontraditional career is an occupation where one sex comprises fewer than 25 percent of the total employed.
