ASC Culinary Arts students to host Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale

The Alfred State College Culinary Arts department will be hosting a drive thru Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 25. 

The Alfred State College Culinary Arts department will be hosting a drive thru Brick Oven Pizza and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 25. 

A personal nine-inch brick oven cheese pizza will be sold for $8. Additional toppings, pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushrooms, and peppers can be added for $.50 each.

The bakery department will also have a variety of baked goods available for sale. 

Alfred State hosts 2024 Skills USA Postsecondary Championship

Alfred State College (ASC) hosted the 2024 SkillsUSA New York State Leadership and Skills Conference Postsecondary Championship, and ten students earned the right to compete at Nationals with their performance. The event, held on ASC’s Wellsville campus, featured forty students competing in one of the nation’s most prestigious showcases of career and technical aptitude.

The Alfred State College Culinary Arts department will be hosting a Mardi Gras Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 22 on the Wellsville campus (2530 River Rd, Wellsville, NY 14895).

The $25 per person buffet dinner includes:

Campus Event: Spaghetti dinner Nov. 16

The Alfred State Culinary Arts department will host a spaghetti take-out dinner on Nov. 16 to benefit the family of Derek Correa.

The dinner will include spaghetti with meatballs, Italian bread, a side salad with Italian vinaigrette, and a cookie.
The cost of the dinner is $15 (cash or check only). Dinners will be available for pick up from 3 – 5:30 p.m. (or until sold out) at the Culinary Arts Building (2530 River Rd., Wellsville, NY 14895).

The Culinary Arts department will host an Oktoberfest buffet style dinner on Oct. 12 at Alfred State’s Wellsville campus (2530 River Rd., Wellsville, NY 14895). The dinner is $25 each and the proceeds will benefit Culinary Arts scholarships.

The menu will include: Kartoffelsuppe (German Potato Soup), Bratwurst with Caramelized Onions, House Made Sauerkraut, Sauerbraten, Warm German Potato Salad, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Flammkuchen, Spaetzle, Mushroom Gravy, German Salads, and Desserts.

Culinary Arts and Western Equestrian Team featured at Garlic Festival

Alfred State College’s culinary arts students and faculty along with the western equestrian team participated in the Cuba Garlic Festival last weekend.

Associate Professor and Culinary Arts department chair Debra Burch coordinated activities for the whole family. The highlight of the weekend was when two teams of culinary students battled in a “Chopped” style competition. Each team of three made three courses, a soup, an entrée, and a dessert. The contest was judged, and the winning team won prizes from Cutco.

“I wanted to give back because my family had to stay at the Ronald McDonald House when I was sick and again when my brother was sick, me when I was in the 10th grade and when my brother was in 4th grade.”

A group of eight Alfred State College (ASC) students prepared and served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester recently. The meal was enjoyed by thirty people.

The group consisted of three students in the electrical program, Dominic Pignataro (E. Northport, NY), Jackson Clark (Rush, NY), and James Olson- (Harperfield, NY), and five students in the culinary arts program Clarissa Ramirez (Bronx, NY), Rebekka Jones (Savona, NY), Seth Bogart (Friendship, NY), Alex Wasserman (Bath, NY), and Alex Miller (Hornell, NY).

The Alfred State College (ASC) Culinary Arts department will be hosting a barbecue drive-thru dinner on Thursday, April 6 on the Wellsville campus. Proceeds of the $15 (Cash Only) dinner will benefit the Culinary Arts Scholarship funds.

The dinner includes smoked BBQ beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, corn muffin, and cookies. 

Dinners will be served from 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. or until sold out and can be picked up at 2530 River Rd., Wellsville, NY 14895.
