Alfred State ranks high for in-demand fields at School of Applied Technology

Hands-on education is at the center of every major in the School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College (ASC). This applied learning approach has led to amazing honors for 2023 from many ranking experts.

These nationwide rankings have confirmed the school’s excellence and ranked Alfred State in the US Top 10 for students seeking 13 specific majors. 

Alfred State Culinary Arts to host Mardi Gras Dinner

The Alfred State College (ASC) Culinary Arts department will be holding a Mardi Gras plated five-course dinner on Feb. 21.

The Alfred State College (ASC) Culinary Arts department will be holding a Mardi Gras plated five-course dinner on Feb. 21. The cost of the dinner is $25, and the proceeds benefit the culinary arts scholarships.

Autobody students continue to benefit from wreck/rebuild program

“I like being hands-on. We have lectures and go through the basics, and we talk through everything that we will experience in the real world. Getting hands-on you learn more, experience it, and you know exactly what is going to happen. When I go into the industry, I will already have done it.”

The autobody wreck/rebuild program continues to benefit Alfred State College (ASC) students preparing for their career with hands-on education experiences.

Under the guidance of instructors CJ Tremper and Brad Smith, students in the autobody program enhance their skills sets by fixing wrecked vehicles to gain insight into what it is like to work inside a live collision shop. Currently there are six cars in the shop that are being repaired.

Fall dean’s list honors 901 students

Nine hundred and one Alfred State College students have earned dean’s list honors for their academic success during the fall 2022 semester.

Nine hundred and one Alfred State College students have earned dean’s list honors for their academic success during the fall 2022 semester.

Students must have completed at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0, to qualify for the dean’s list. For the most recent semester, the dean’s list includes 901 students. In addition, 245 of these students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Wilder and Linneball Hall of Excellence dedicated on Wellsville campus

Alfred State College (ASC) recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of a second Hall of Excellence made possible by generous contributions from J. Joseph Wilder, ’77, and his wife Laura Linneball. The newest Hall of Excellence, located in the entryway of the Workforce Development Center on the Wellsville campus, showcases achievements and contributions of ASC alumni and friends.

ASC Culinary Arts to be featured at Garlic Festival

This weekend Alfred State Culinary Arts students and faculty will be on display at the Cuba Garlic Festival. Visit the Stinkin’ Rose tent on Sept. 17 and 18 to see them in action.

Alfred State Culinary Arts to host Spaghetti Dinner

The Alfred State College (ASC) Culinary Arts department will host a drive-thru spaghetti dinner on September 22 at the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus. Proceeds of the event will benefit the program’s scholarship fund.
