Brandon Holley, of Livonia, was awarded the 2015 Thomas Wurzer Memorial Scholarship at the January meeting of the Rochester chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester.

The college’s Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in information technology: network administration was ranked 10th on the list of “15 of the Most Affordable Bachelor’s Degrees in Networking and Network Administration.” Its BTech in information technology: web development came in at No. 12 on the list of “15 of the Most Affordable Bachelor’s Degrees in Web Design and Development.”

Six fifth-year architecture students in Alfred State’s first-ever Bachelor of Architecture class presented progress drawings and models to industry professionals as part of their Design Studio 7 – Thesis Definition course work.

Eight senior architecture students presented at the annual Appalachian Teaching Project (ATP) conference at the end of the fall semester in Washington, DC.

Students from four colleges put their cyber security skills to the test Dec. 6 at Alfred State during the ASIST Cyber Security Capture the Flag Competition.

Competing against 15 other schools, Alfred State placed in two divisions in this year’s Associated Schools of Construction Region 1 Student Competition held Nov. 13-14 in Morristown, NJ.

The town of Southport received some assistance with envisioning its recently approved comprehensive plan after Alfred State architecture students presented their designs that looked five, 10, and 15 years into the future development of the municipality.

This program will focus on developing the contemporary problem-solving and design skills needed to enter the workforce and to apply the elements and principles of design, drawing, and visual communication. An awareness of design history is combined with the latest topics in graphic and media design to provide an informed student aimed at innovation in the field.

The Alfred State Basic Utility Vehicle (BUV) Team recently took second place in the annual BUV Design Competition held April 25 in Batavia, OH.

Carlo said the students intend to have a final design presentation and collate all the solutions into a design booklet.
