Financial expert and Alfred State College faculty member Matthew Burr recently spoke with Elmira TV news station WETM 18 about student loan debt, as well as his new book on how to pay off this debt to gain financial freedom.

Dante Savasta, of Windham, transformed an abandoned World War II gantry crane in San Francisco Bay into the site of a luxurious, high-end residency that gives occupants an innovative and extravagant living experience.

Dr. Alex Bitterman, a professor in the Architecture and Design Department at Alfred State College (ASC), was recently quoted in a National Geographic article about the importance of disaster “prepping.”

Alfred State Assistant Professor Holly Chase was recently profiled in an online article by the Institute of Management Accountants.

Scott DuMond, an assistant professor in Alfred State’s Business Department, said, “Among the benefits of the competition is gaining real-world experience using financial software that is employed by professionals and fiduciaries in their field." 

Reflecting on earning her CMA, Chase said, “I feel accomplished to finally have some recognition for all of my career experience in the field. I really enjoyed taking a deep dive into the academic portion of managerial accounting.”

Alfred State College (ASC) graduates may seamlessly continue their education at the University at Buffalo and pursue a master’s degree in electrical engineering, courtesy of a new agreement signed by the two State University of New York (SUNY) entities.

Recent Alfred State graduate Alex Bailey, engineering science, Bath, will present the results of an applied learning project that he and two others worked on at the upcoming American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Virtual Conference in June.

Utilizing the technology and resources available on campus, Alfred State College is teaming up with local businesses to help fill the need for more face masks for healthcare workers and essential employees.
