The 2018 ATP symposium was held at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, VA, and featured 150 students representing 15 schools from 11 Appalachian states. The team from Alfred State included fourth-year students in Design Studio 5: Urban Studio.

Course work in these majors will cover the breadth of interactive design from AAA (triple A) game titles to the interactions of application interfaces. Skills developed are applicable to the growing fields of user experience (UX) design, application design, web design, data visualization, and interactive entertainment.

Brian Perry, the executive vice president, chairman, and an owner of Perry’s, is both a fourth-generation member of the 100-year-old business, as well as a second-generation Alfred State Pioneer.

The college has recently expanded its academic offerings to now include associate and bachelor’s degree programs in mechatronics technology. Classes for these programs will begin in the fall 2019 semester.

Jeremy Speed Schwartz, an associate professor in the Digital Media and Animation Department, was part of a group of artists that recently received a Lumen Prize for Digital Art.

Ferreri, an architecture major from Marion, will join Professor William C. Dean, RA, AIA, the department’s faculty architect licensing advisor, in providing information and guidance on experience and registration to the department’s 170 architecture students.

In addition to becoming immersed in cutting-edge sport management research while creating a review of literature, the senior capstone class is designed for Alfred State sport management to work closely with a local sport organization to address problems and concerns through research-based recommendations and solutions.

“Mittashane,” an animated video created by Alfred State College students while studying abroad in Toyko, recently won “Best Animated Short” at the Western New York Film Arts and Music Event (FAME) held at Genesee Community College.

Alfred State College’s own Abigail Campbell and Justin Campbell, both of Geneseo, were recently awarded scholarship grants from the Construction Advancement Institute (CAI).

The object of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the design, planning, and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market.
