Although Alfred State College can be justifiably proud of its diverse and tasty student dining experience, does that automatically equate to customer satisfaction? Happily, the answer to that question is a resounding yes!

According to Dining Services’ 2009 Fall Customer Satisfaction Survey, the college gets high marks for taste: 74 percent of survey respondents ranked the taste of the on-campus food as good, very good, or exceptional.

Six students enrolled in the Alfred State College construction management engineering technology bachelor-level program recently took second place in the Commercial Building Division at the Associated Schools of Construction Region 1 (Virginia to Maine) estimating and scheduling competition, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fairfield, NJ. In addition to the special recognition the students and program received attesting to their success, the students each received a copy of Win Estimator software for their use.

Shedden Wins NCCC Open Title

Alfred State College freshman Eric Shedden (Canton, PA) won the 141 lb. weight class at the Niagara CCC Open on Saturday to lead the Pioneers.  Dan Steiger (Miller Place) finished 3rd at 174 lbs and Ben Hoffman (Gouveneur) was 6th in the heavyweight competition.

Shedden earned a 7-1 victory over Evan Dahl (Mercyhurst North East) in his first match-up of the day and then downed James Mann (Muskegon CC) 5-0 to advance to the finals.  In the finals, Shedden won by medical forfeit over Kyle Windquist (Muskegon CC).

Swim Team Finishes 10th at Fredonia

The Alfred State College swimming team finished 10th at the three-day Fredonia Invitational.  The Lady Pioneers scored 73 points while the men's team scored 66 points.

The female relay team of Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford), Ashley Andrus (Cuba Rushford), Jessica Hetrick (Elmira Southside), and Emily Bergman finished 9th in the 400 medley relay (5:03.05) and 10th in the 200 medley relay (2:18.45).

Lakeland (OH) CC hit 26 of 43 foul shot attempts en route to a 84-68 victory over Alfred State in the finals of the Lakeland Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 8-5 on the season with one game remaining in 2009.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell 75-61 to CC of Beaver County in the consolation game of the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament.  ASC falls to 6-7 on the year.

Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) led the Pioneers with 14 points while Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) added 13.  Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) scored 11 and Sir Aaron Taylor (Lincoln Hall) finished with 15 rebounds and six points.

The Pioneers fell behind 39-22 at half and never could mount a full comeback.

Four Lady Pioneers finished in double figures as the Alfred State College women's basketball team advanced to the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament final with a 74-42 victory over Glen Oaks (MI) CC.  The victory improves ASC to 8-4 on the year.

Shadeeka Campbell (Brooklyn/William Grady) recorded a double-double with 14 poins and 15 rebounds to lead the blue & gold.  Amanda Blake (Cuba Rushford) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, Ayanna Rhodes (Clermont, FL) finished with 11 points, and Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) added 10 points.
