Swim Team Finishes 10th at Fredonia

The Alfred State College swimming team finished 10th at the three-day Fredonia Invitational.  The Lady Pioneers scored 73 points while the men's team scored 66 points.

The Alfred State College swimming team finished 10th at the three-day Fredonia Invitational.  The Lady Pioneers scored 73 points while the men's team scored 66 points.

The female relay team of Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford), Ashley Andrus (Cuba Rushford), Jessica Hetrick (Elmira Southside), and Emily Bergman finished 9th in the 400 medley relay (5:03.05) and 10th in the 200 medley relay (2:18.45).

Andrus also earned points for the team with a 14th place finish in the 100 back (1:11.17) and a 16th place finish in the 200 back (2:37.77).  Hetrick earned a 12th place finish in the 400 IM (5:34.10).

On the men's side, Wade Harrington (Campbell-Savona), Tim Guarino (Cornwall), Cory Roberts (Marcus Whitman), and Ethan Wright (Clyde Savannah) finished 8th in the 400 medley relay (4:21.44) and 10th in the 200 medley relay (1:58.66).  The 800 free relay team of Guarino, Harrington, Ethan Kage (Medina), and Josiah Halbolm (Bemus Point) finished 10th in 8:49.27.

Roberts also earned points for the team with a 12th place finish in the 200 fly (2:25.39).  Guarino also earned a 16th place finish in 1 meter diving competition and was 17th in the 200 breaststroke (2:53.84).

SUNY Fredonia won the women's title with 869 points while Penn State Behrend won the men's title with 836 points.  ASC and Monroe CC were the lone two-year schools in the competition.

ASC dives back in the pool on Wednesday when they take on Genesee CC at 6 p.m. in Batavia.
