Lady Pioneers down Glen Oaks

Four Lady Pioneers finished in double figures as the Alfred State College women's basketball team advanced to the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament final with a 74-42 victory over Glen Oaks (MI) CC.  The victory improves ASC to 8-4 on the year.

Shadeeka Campbell (Brooklyn/William Grady) recorded a double-double with 14 poins and 15 rebounds to lead the blue & gold.  Amanda Blake (Cuba Rushford) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, Ayanna Rhodes (Clermont, FL) finished with 11 points, and Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) added 10 points.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell behind early and never could climb out of the whole in their first round contest of the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament versus Glen Oaks (MI) CC.  The Pioneers fall to 6-6 on the year following the 85-71 loss.

Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) led the blue & gold with 17 points while Sir Aaron Taylor (Lincoln Hall) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards.  Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) added 11 for ASC.

Brittney Brook (Elmira Free) scored 28 points as the Alfred State College women's basketball team downed Houghton JV 66-37 to improve to 7-4 on the year.

Shawna McNeil (Hornell) added eight points while Megan Coates (Rochester/Nazareth) finished with six.

The blue & gold travel to Kirtland, OH to play in the Lakeland CC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers take on Glen Oaks (MI) CC in a first round game on Saturday at Noon.  The host school takes on Notre Dame (OH) JV at 4 p.m. in the other opening day contest.

Some of the warmest clothing we select is made of wool—knitted (or crocheted), carded, spun, shorn from those most docile of animals, the sheep. But how does that curly fiber shorn from those sheep become the warm sweater we pull from our shelf?

Habitat for Humanity Builds Wheelchair Ramp

Pioneers Win Third Straight

The Alfred State College men's basketball team defeated Finger Lakes CC 57-53 to win their third straight contest.  The victory also helps the Pioneers climb over .500 for the second time in the season with a 6-5 mark.

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) led the blue & gold with 14 points and seven rebounds while Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) came off the bench and chipped in 14 points.  Rasean Parris (Benajamin Banneker) also finished in double figures with 10 points.

“Not too long ago,” notes Dr. Steven J. Tyrell, vice president for student affairs at Alfred State College, “a generation was considered to be about 15-20 years. Nowadays, there are more frequent marked shifts in students’ attitudes and values. The millennial generation is comprised of more than 10 distinctly different sub-populations of students. New sub-populations can emerge as quickly as every 18 months!”
