Nicholas Barrett

“The professors are fun. They really try to make it the best experience for us and make sure that they get the knowledge to us. They make sure we understand and are super willing to help whenever we need extra help with anything.”

Conor Compton

Conor Compton wanted to study heavy equipment operations and continue to dive when he went to college. He was able to find both at Alfred State.

“I chose Alfred State because of the great opportunities we have here to operate all this equipment. The coolest part is I get to participate in the diving team which is something not a lot of programs will allow you to do. This was a unique program because I get the college experience, the college degree, and I also get to dive on the team.”

Pioneer PROfiles - Joanna Musacchio

“Our classes are so interactive. We are always spending time together in the studio, and we collaborate on almost everything. We can go from Wellsville town planning and design all the way up to our thesis projects that combine a variety of topics.”

Joanna Musacchio

Joanna Musacchio (Canastota, NY) has been able to make Alfred State home by combining her academic and campus activities to prepare to be in demand as she enters the workforce.

Alfred felt like her hometown. “It is pretty much the same environment as where I grew up and I felt really connected here. I was able to study both architecture and interior design. It was a perfect school to get experience in both areas.”

Pioneer PROfiles - Farad Begaliev

“The best part of the program is that you get so much experience. They try to simulate real world situations. The instructors have so much experience. They have answers for pretty much every scenario that me and my classmates have. We are always learning something new.”

Farhad Begaliev

Farhad Begaliev (Manchester, NY) wanted to learn skills that would lead him to a rewarding hands-on career. His path led him to Alfred State and the Automotive Service Technician program where he is excited for what the future holds.

“I chose Alfred State because they have one of the greatest hands-on programs. I am not the type of person that would sit down at a desk for multiple hours. I would rather be in the shop with all this equipment and work with cars.”

Pioneer PROfiles - Bee Williams

“There are so many high-quality professors that have worked in the industry. The class sizes are small, and the professors can help. We learn everything during lectures and put them to use on paper and then we go into labs and use apparatuses and do experiments using actual tools."

Bee Williams

Bee Williams (Canberra, Australia) always wanted to study abroad and her passion for basketball and mechanical engineering led her to Alfred State. She has experienced new things, gained leadership experience, and is excited to see what the future holds for her.

Pioneer PROfiles - Dean Jackson

“In labs we deal with a variety of livestock species. We have learned how to do medical work and I am looking forward in my future semesters to learning more about artificial insemination and more about genetics. The hands-on opportunities I have gotten here are valuable. These experiences have opened a whole field of careers that were not previously available to me.”

Dean Jackson

Dean Jackson (Cornwall, Ontario) earned a degree in Canada but decided to return to college to pursue education tied to his family roots. He grew up on a beef farm and enrolled in Alfred State’s agricultural technology program.

“I chose Alfred State because I was looking at agriculture programs. The closest program to my home would have been nine hours in Ontario. Seeing the hands-on opportunities, seeing the village, and meeting the faculty made me decide to come.”

Pioneer PROfiles - Adam Estes

“Here they give you the fundamentals that you need to be able to go out into the surveying world. This degree is looked at in such a high level in the survey community.”

Adam Estes

Adam Estes (Caledonia, NY) was encouraged to check out surveying by his high school coach and that advice has led him to a career that he is excited to start.

“I had no idea that I wanted to be a surveyor. My basketball coach is a surveyor and graduated from Alfred State. He encouraged me to try surveying and now here I am, and I have loved it ever since.”
