“If you cannot decide or if you are struggling in classes, they have people to help. There are advisors, success coaches, tutors, and resident assistants. They have gotten me through a lot and eased the stress and the transition into college.”

Tyson Comfort (Avoca, NY) was not positive about what he wanted to study when he graduated high school. The flexibility of starting as an undeclared major at Alfred State has him headed in the right direction.

“As an undeclared student you have four semesters to declare a major. You have plenty of time to dapple into different classes. I came here and got my general education classes out of the way.”

Through his early classes, Tyson has found clearer paths to follow. “I took my required classes and some electives to help me narrow down my major choice. Right now, I am thinking about going into IT or business.”

Tyson appreciates how many majors Alfred State offers and the assistance is available to students. “If you cannot decide or if you are struggling in classes, they have people to help. There are advisors, success coaches, tutors, and resident assistants. They have gotten me through a lot and eased the stress and the transition into college.”

Outside the classroom, Tyson has gotten involved in the fencing club and has become a member of Intervarsity. “I was worried about making friends and fitting in. I have been able to find groups, and they are my beloved friends.”
