The annual Great Race will take place from June 18-26, running from San Rafael, CA, to Moline, IL. About 120 classic cars from around the country and the world will compete for a top prize of $50,000 in the timed event.

“I’m thrilled that our students at Alfred State have helped people around the world monitor the birds and to witness as a new eaglet emerges,” stated Jeff Stevens, assistant professor of Electrical Trades.

The Alfred State Automotive Trades Department was able to get some terrific exposure recently at the 38th annual Motorama, held Feb. 20-21 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA.

Through an eight-year cooperative agreement, students in the Alfred State Electrical Trades Department have been able to work on some amazing projects at the US National Arboretum (USNA) in Washington, DC, and their most recent endeavor is no exception.

“This was an excellent opportunity for Alfred State and Alfred University students to display their talents and abilities on a national scale,” Richardson said. “They were also able to receive a valuable hands-on learning experience unlike any other, which will undoubtedly benefit them in their careers once they graduate.”

More than 25 Alfred State and Alfred University students headed to California Saturday, Sept. 26, to compete in the 2015 US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.

Three teams headed from the Alfred State School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville to Connecticut Thursday for the annual Fireball Run event.

Taking part in the Semester in the South this year are Brock Delgato, of Clarence; Kyle Parish, of Buffalo; James Friedeborn, of Ithaca; Jake Baran, of Clarence; Brian Mitchell, of Derby; Kevin Rogers, of Frewsburg; Kayla Miller, of Bronx; and Cody Marvin, of Bath.

The one-story, 2,972-square-foot, French country-style house will feature three bedrooms, a dining area, a spacious kitchen, an entertainment alcove, a laundry room, a small home office, two bathrooms, a covered rear porch with a fireplace, and a full basement.

After traveling more than 2,300 miles in nine days in a 1953 Dodge Power Wagon tow truck, a group of five Alfred State students and one professor arrived in Santa Monica, CA June 28, officially finishing The Great Race.
