Five Alfred State students this month will compete in a cross-country rally that pits teams against the clock and one another for the chance to win a $50,000 grand prize.

Craig Corbell, owner of the Lincoln and friend of Alfred State, is sponsoring the college’s team, which consists of Automotive Trades Assistant Professor James Fleischman, and heavy equipment: truck and diesel technician students Jacob Macken, of Alden, and Ryan Balcerzak, of Elma

The menu will include jambalaya, gumbo, shrimp etouffée, muffuletta and po’boy sandwiches, king cake, pecan pralines, beignets, and much, much more. The cost, including beverages, is $15 per person or $7 for children under 10 years old.

Electrical construction and maintenance electrician students to work over winter break at Olean, NY airport.

The decoration, made of exterior plywood, is currently in front of the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce building, 114 N. Main St. in Wellsville. Students in the college’s building construction program built the Santa Claus and students in the digital media and animation program painted it.

The menu will feature classic French cuisine, such as crown roast of pork, coq au van, crème brulee, French onion soup, cream puffs, cassoulet with duck, broccoli mornay, and much, much more.

The Culinary Arts Department and the Culinary Honors Club will be hosting an Oktoberfest Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Culinary Arts dining area on the Alfred State Wellsville campus at 2530 River Road. The cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children under 10.

This year’s Fireball Run begins Sept. 26 in Frisco, Texas, and ends Oct. 4 in Independence, Mo., covering 14 cities and 2,000 miles. For a full schedule, updates, and to watch the action live, visit www.fireballrun.com.

Twenty-one students from Alfred State’s electrical construction and maintenance electrician program braved the wintry weather last month to honor friend and fellow student, Trevor Randall, who died in a recent car accident, by completing one of Trevor’s unfinished service projects in their spare time.

The cost of attendance is $17 for adults; $7 for children 10 and under. Proceeds from the event will benefit Culinary Arts scholarships. This event is open to the public; no reservations will be accepted.
