Sparks 4th, Hicky 8th at Region III Decathlon

Alfred State's Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) and Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) earned the Pioneers six points at the Region III decathlon championships the past two days.  Sparks finished 4th in the competition while Hickey was 8th.

Alfred State's Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) and Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) earned the Pioneers six points at the Region III decathlon championships the past two days.  Sparks finished 4th in the competition while Hickey was 8th.

Sparks' best performance was in the 100 m dash where he earned 703 points with a time of 11.50.  He also earned 559 points in the 110 hurdles (17.40), 517 points in the pole vault (3.63 m), and 490 points in the long jump (5.54 m).  Sparks finished the ten events with 4,525 points.

Hoops for Haiti Charity Basketball Games Set for Wednesday

Alfred State will host a "Hoops for Haiti" charity basketball event on Wednesday, April 28th at the Orvis Activities Center.  The proceeds from this event will be donated the group of 21 students that will head to Haiti after the spring semester ends to assist in the rebuilding process.

Faculty, Students, and Staff Celebrate Earth Day With Project Team Neighbor

Commencement To Be Held Sunday, May 16

Nearly 900 two- and four-year graduates, their families, professors, and friends will be on hand Sunday, May 16 at noon, as Alfred State College honors its 99th graduating class. Commencement exercises are scheduled to be held at McLane Center on neighboring Alfred University campus. Graduates will need to use the tickets in their graduation packets for their families’ admission.
