Several Alfred State College students were recently inducted into Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE), a national honor society for full-time students who have entered college through any developmental or opportunity program.

Chi Alpha EpsilonThe Alfred State college chapter of XAE was chartered in 2007, making this the fourth induction ceremony at the college. Any student who maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of a possible 4.0) or higher for two consecutive semesters is eligible for induction. This honor society was founded at West Chester University in West Chester, PA, in 1989. There are now over 150 chapters across the United States.

Each inductee receives a pin at the ceremony. If an inductee achieves a semester GPA over 3.5 any time after his/her induction, a new pin containing a jewel to indicate their success, is bestowed. Dr. Aniko Constantine, SUNY (State University of New York) Distinguished Teaching Professor, English and Humanities, was inducted as an honorary member in recognition of her support of EOP (Education Opportunity Program) in various ways over the years.
