Our students learn so much while at Alfred State. I am proud of the support our faculty and staff provide them, both inside and outside the classroom.
In our students' journey they will inevitably encounter challenges that will have them wondering if they should throw in the towel. But knowing that they have a champion in their corner and someone who will help them navigate those sticky situations, no matter what they are, is what makes Alfred State so special.
Justin Signorelli embodies exactly this on a daily basis. In just a short time, Justin has built up a championship wrestling team. This year his team won their second straight AMCC Championship and had the program’s first two NCAA National Qualifiers (Sean Malenfant and Zachary Levey – Read more about the road to nationals). Justin has a knack for really bringing out the best in his student-athletes, through leading by example through support and a strong work ethic, and overcoming whatever obstacles might be in the way in his continued pursuit of excellence.
Recently Justin and his team practiced in the dark before the regional championship during a power outage on campus. Now that is grit, resiliency, and tenacity if I ever saw it!
Thank you for all you do Justin and best of luck to you and your wrestlers at nationals (The NCAA Division III National Championships are March 15 and 16 in La Crosse, WI).
