Pioneer PROfiles - Katelyn James

“My professors are super supportive. They are there to help me if I have a problem with anything. If I have trouble getting into an assignment or understanding something they are here to help me through it all and guide me.”

Katelyn James

Katelyn James (Buffalo, NY) continued her families tradition of attending Alfred State but it was not until she got involved that she found her extended family at the college.

Pioneer PROfiles - Bee Williams

“There are so many high-quality professors that have worked in the industry. The class sizes are small, and the professors can help. We learn everything during lectures and put them to use on paper and then we go into labs and use apparatuses and do experiments using actual tools."

Bee Williams

Bee Williams (Canberra, Australia) always wanted to study abroad and her passion for basketball and mechanical engineering led her to Alfred State. She has experienced new things, gained leadership experience, and is excited to see what the future holds for her.

Meet the Students - John Snyder

“I chose Alfred State after looking at a bunch of different architecture schools around the area and what really drew me here was their technical background and their value in the field. I talked to different architects and engineers and all of them said the same thing. Alfred graduates were ready to go when they get put into any project and everyone was satisfied with their work.”

Architecture students present design concepts to Village of Angelica

“Projects like this give our students a real-world experience. In eight short weeks, each group worked together to develop plans from what they had learned and seen in Angelica. The students did an excellent job taking what they have learned in the classroom and applying it to a client.”

Matt DiRado

ASC Architecture Professor

Alfred State College (ASC) architecture students in Design Studio 5 presented comprehensive plans to reimagine the Village of Angelica. Two groups of fifteen students worked for eight weeks and presented their concepts and ideas to citizens in Angelica.

Alfred State AIAS Chapter hosts panel discussion

"As an emerging professional speaking with architects in the field, understanding the economic side of projects is the most prominent skill missing from a graduate's kit of knowledge."

Jack Christie

President of the Alfred State AIAS Chapter.

Alfred State College's American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Chapter recently hosted a panel-style discussion entitled “The Economics of Architecture.”

The conversation helped bridge the gap of economic knowledge between students and professionals. The discussion served as a vessel of communication between architects, clients, and contractors and encouraged them to express their views on how economics are dealt with in a building project.
