Mechanical Engineering Technology major Daneil Newman (Bronx, NY) is ready to start his career after enjoying his program and the environment at Alfred State.
“I chose Alfred State because of the hands-on opportunities that I get here and the affordability of the college. I chose mechanical engineering because I like to take things apart and see how things work inside. I also like the design aspect of mechanical systems.”
Daneil enjoys the projects that has enhanced his learning experiences. “The projects can be multi-disciplinary. You get to use everything that you have learned so far to assess the project. It really gives you the feel of how to assess and put that into real world application.”
His education and experiences have him in demand. “I have had multiple professional engineers tell me that students that come from Alfred State have a greater depth of knowledge and understanding of the materials.”
Coming from a city, Daneil has enjoyed the environment that Alfred provides to concentrate on your studies. “I do enjoy the more peaceful area around Alfred. It is quiet and it feels as if the people in a smaller town is like a family. Alfred State can really be your home away from home.”
Outside the classroom, he works in the admissions office as a tour guide, and he is residence assistant in his dorm. “There is always something to do. There is always an event on campus. We have an app ‘Corq’ that we use, and we can always see when school activities are going on.”
With his experiences at Alfred State coming to an end soon, Daneil is excited to start a new job at Sage Engineering (Albany, NY) days after he crosses the graduation stage.
Alfred State has guided Daneil to a great career.
