The conference is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 30 in the Allegany Room of the Central Dining Hall of the Alfred campus.

Students in the soils class at Alfred State will hold a free pH clinic for the community.

According to Associate Professor of Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Doug Pierson, the students will travel to Les Cayes, where they will put their skills to use caring for residents’ animals by participating in mobile clinics and coordinating with the local veterinary agent.

Approximately 500 first- and second-graders toured the college farm, learning about vegetable production, milk production, horses, and other small animals and agriculture in general.

Roughly 120 people attended the three-day event for farmers, conservationists, and consumers who are interested in soil health, grazing, and sustainable agriculture. Grasstravaganza featured presentations from nationally recognized grazing and soil health experts, specialized workshops, and a trade show.

Alfred State is hosting Grasstravaganza Aug. 4-6, an event for farmers, conservationists, and consumers who are interested in soil health, grazing, and sustainable agriculture. Students in the soils class at Alfred State will hold a pH clinic for the community from 2-6 p.m. Friday, April 22 in room 103 of the Agriculture Science Building on the Alfred campus.

A group of students in Lecturer Jessica Hutchison’s botany class last semester were able to help NASA with a project that was truly out of this world.

Hundreds of first- and second-grade students from area schools toured Alfred State’s 800-acre farm Thursday, Sept. 17, during Kiddie Ag Day.
