Alfred State students in Sorrento meet with USA Consul

The 19 Alfred State College (ASC) students at Sant’ Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy had the opportunity to meet with Consul Karen Schinnerer, Press and Culture Secretary, at the USA Consulate in Naples recently.

18 architecture students and one business student are part of the 100 international students that are spending the spring semester at the Sant’ Anna Institute. ASC professor William Dean, the chair of the architecture program, is also taking part in the study abroad program.

Alfred State Men’s Swimming & Diving win AMCC Title

The Alfred State College (ASC) men’s swimming & diving team continued their impressive 2021-22 by winning the college’s first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship

The Alfred State College (ASC) men’s swimming & diving team continued their impressive 2021-22 by winning the college’s first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship. The Pioneers were also the overall champion in the meet that combined AMCC and Empire 8 institutions.

Alfred State led throughout the four-day event held at the Webster Aquatic Center. The Pioneers scored 969.5 points to sit on top of the overall standings. During the competition, the Pioneers broke six AMCC records and established ten new ASC program records.

Alfred State Architecture students win modular student housing challenge

Alfred State College (ASC) Architecture students Abigail Jones (Pittsford), Jack Christie (Geneseo), and Mason Miller (Fairport) earned first prize honors in a modular student housing challenge sponsored by Razak Associates.

Students in Design Studio I worked individually to design a modular student-housing complex for 100 students with a maximum of 30,000 square feet on the Alfred State campus. This was students’ first exposure to modular housing and working within tight design constraints.

Alfred State College (ASC) students are seeing a high return on investment (ROI) according to a recent report by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce. In Western New York, Alfred State is No. 1 for money earned in the first ten years of a career versus how much was invested for the education. This is among all 32 private or public colleges and universities in the region.

Peer Tutoring receives continued support from Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc.

The ongoing support of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. has greatly contributed to student success at Alfred State through a generous annual donation to peer tutoring.

The ongoing support of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. has greatly contributed to student success at Alfred State through a generous annual donation to peer tutoring.

Since the 2010-2011 academic year, the Foundation has provided $5,500 annually to the college’s peer tutoring program. As a result, the program has fulfilled more than 1,701 student requests over the last nine years, providing more than 10,251 hours of support.

Six Alfred State College (ASC) architecture students participated in the 21st annual Appalachian Teaching Project (ATP) Symposium, a regional economic development conference sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).

The Alfred State College (ASC) men’s swimming & diving team recently completed the regular season with an undefeated dual meet record. The Pioneers were 7-0 and become the first Alfred State team to finish with a perfect regular season during the NCAA era (2014-present).
