“I am very proud of both our men and women this weekend,” stated AMCC Coach of the Year Mike Smiechowski. “Special thanks to the alumni and everyone involved with helping build this championship team. It was a truly special year with our men going undefeated. Looking forward to continuing to build a championship pedigree for both programs.”
The AMCC title broke Penn State Behrend’s streak of 14 straight AMCC titles and the AMCC title was the first won by a men’s athletic team at Alfred State (the women’s swimming & diving team won the AMCC Championship in 2020). It was also the first time an AMCC team has won the overall title of the Allegheny – Empire Championship.
In total, the Alfred State men had 11 AMCC individual champions and 10 overall event champions. Diver Austin Miller (Hornell) earned AMCC Diver of the Year for the third year.
The Alfred State women’s swimming & diving team finished second in the AMCC standings and fourth in the overall standings. Diver Sarah Streeter (LeRoy) earned the AMCC Diver of the Year honors.
