Alfred State Archery Receives Gift of Bow Press System from Burdic’s Bow Werx

students standing next to a bow pressJim Burdic, whose son, Koji, is a first-year student at Alfred State, saw a unique opportunity to support the team by coordinating the activity to upgrade a critical piece of the team’s core equipment.

Alfred State Archery recently received a generous gift from Burdic’s Bow Werx: an advanced Specialty Archery Pro Press system that is designed to be among the safest and most user-friendly bow presses available to bow clubs and shops today.

Burdic’s Bow Werx is located in Fulton and provides archery sales and service to the region. Owner Jim Burdic coordinated the gift by organizing a raffle whose proceeds would be directed to this subsequent gift.

Alfred State Day of Giving set for Nov. 18

This year’s event, which will take place Wednesday, Nov. 18, is looking to raise $200,000 and help fill the college’s on-campus food pantry. Each and every donation makes an impact on current and future students, with gifts benefiting scholarships, programming, athletics, new technology, food insecurity, and so much more.

For the fifth consecutive year, Alfred State is calling upon Pioneers and supporters everywhere to make a big difference in the lives of students by participating in the college’s annual Day of Giving.

According to TheBestColleges.org, Alfred State ranks No. 3 in the nation for veterinary technology. OnlineU.org places the college No. 7 in the US for human services management when it comes to affordability. Also, Alfred State ranks No. 8 in the country for health information technology.

Earn college credit this winter at Alfred State College

Further your education and earn college credit this winter by taking an online course at Alfred State College.

Courses are wide-ranging and cover a variety of topics, from business law, to nutrition, to college algebra, to intro to literature, and many more. A complete list of courses is available at www.AlfredState.edu/winter. Winter Session courses will run from Dec. 21 through Jan. 12.

Alfred State holds largest virtual career fair yet

Altogether, 315 one-on-one chats and 16 group chats took place during the event. The career fair also allowed registered employers access to ASC’s Fall 2020 Resume Book.

Drawing 80 employers and more than 300 students, Alfred State College (ASC) recently held its largest virtual career fair to date.

The Alfred State Fall 2020 Virtual Career Fair took place last week on JobLink, the online platform that ASC has used to host its career fairs virtually since March. Through this tool, employers log in and initiate the ability to live chat. Students then log in, view the available employers, and initiate a chat.
