Pioneers and Jayhawks Settle for a Tie

Alfred State and Jamestown CC battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie in the WNYAC season opener for the Pioneers. The blue & gold are now 2-2-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in Region III Division III play.

Jamestown got on the board first in the 13th minute when Conner Meekins found the back of the net.  Alfred answered back in the 29th minute on a pretty goal by Colby Curran (Alfred Almond).  Curran headed in a corner kick by Shane Joyce (Irondequoit).

The Alfred State men's soccer team earned their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over Jefferson CC. The Pioneers are now 2-2-1 on the year (2-2 Region III Division III).

Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the lone goal of the first half as he bent a shot around the keeper after getting a pass from Nick Peraino (Geneseo).


Pioneers Rally to Tie Penn College

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored two goals in the 2nd half to erase a two goal deficit and earn a 2-2 at Penn College of Technology on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers are now 1-2-1 on the season.

Benjamin Shade scored twenty minutes into the game to give the Wildcats the lone goal of the 1st half.  Eleven minutes later, Tarik Laroche made it 2-0 prior to the Pioneers mounting their comeback.


Men's Soccer Tripped Up in OT

Dave Broedel scored with 1:23 remaining in the 1st overtime to lift Mohawk Valley CC to a 2-1 victory over Alfred State in day two action at the East-West Showdown. The Hawks improve to 4-0 on the year while the Pioneers are now 1-2.

Pioneers Down Delhi in Home Opener

The Alfred State men's soccer team downed SUNY Delhi 3-1 in their 2012 home opener. The game was part of the East-West Showdown.

Alfred's Shane Joyce (Irondequoit) scored the lone goal of the 1st half when he bent a free kick in the top corner of the net.


Pioneers Fall to TC3

The Alfred State men's soccer team fell 4-1 to Tompkins Cortland CC in their 2012 season opener. TC3 improves to 2-1 on the season.

The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at halftime but added two more goals in the second half to jump to a 3-0 lead. Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the blue & gold's lone goal after getting a pass from Kyle Jones (Wilson).


Nick Smith (Arkport) kept the Pioneers in the game with 22 saves in net.


Four Athletes Honored for Academic Excellence

Four Alfred State student-athletes were honored by the NJCAA for their excellence in the classroom. Thomas Anderson (Sodus) and Amanda Bush (Altoona, PA) earned the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement while Joe Markel (Arkport) and Zinta Rutins (Silver Spring, MD) earned the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.

NCAA grants exploratory status to Alfred State

The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the Alfred State athletic program. Alfred State submitted the NCAA application in January.

 “Moving to NCAA is a natural evolution in creating a four-year college environment at Alfred State. We are excited about the prospects of having our athletes compete for four years wearing the blue & gold,”  said Alfred State President, John Anderson.

Four Pioneers Named All-WNYAC Soccer

Four members of the Alfred State College men's soccer team have been named to the All-WNYAC second team.  CJ Reynolds (East Rochester), Peter Dezio (East Rochester), Nick Peraino (Geneseo) and Tim Randall (Churchville Chili) helped the Pioneers to a 5-9-1 season.

Four members of the Alfred State College men's soccer team have been named to the All-WNYAC second team.  CJ Reynolds (East Rochester), Peter Dezio (East Rochester), Nick Peraino (Geneseo) and Tim Randall (Churchville Chili) helped the Pioneers to a 5-9-1 season.

Reynolds led the blue & gold with 10 points on the season with four goals and two assists.

Dezio and Peraino both netted four goals on the season to tie with Reynolds for the most by anyone on the team.

Men's Soccer Season Comes to an End

#5 Onondaga CC downed #12 Alfred State College 5-0 in a Region III Division III Tournament 1st Round contest.  The Pioneers finish the season 5-9-1 while the Lazers move on to the 2nd round to take on #4 Tompkins Cortland CC.

The Lazers outshot the Pioneers 20 to 7 in the contest.  OCC netted two in the 1st half and put the game out of reach with three more in the 2nd.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made 12 saves in net for Alfred State.

The Pioneers were making their 10th appearance in the Regional Tournament in the past 11 years.
