Lady Pioneers Can't Rally Back

The Alfred State College women's basketball team couldn't rally all the way back and suffered a 67-60 loss in Cleveland, OH to Cuyahoga CC.  The Lady Pioneers trailed 33-27 at half and by as many as 12 but cut it to three in the final minute, 63-60, but couldn't get any closer.

Camille Romero (Quees Village/Mary Louis) recorded over twenty points in her 5th straight game.  She led ASC with 29 points on Friday.  Carriola Chambers (Manhattan/Facing History) chipped in 12 pionts while Amie Brooks (Pavilion) had nine.

Pioneers Down Lakers

The Alfred State College men's basketball team downed Finger Lakes CC 62-54 as they took the court for the first time in ten days.  The Pioneers are now 5-5 on the year.

The Pioneers led 31-25 at halftime and led by as many as 18 points.  They led 62-44 but the Lakers scored the final 10 points of the game.

DaQuan Allen (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) led the blue & gold with 15 points and five assists.  Darrin Butts (Jamestown) added 14 points and Alex Hall (Jamaica/Forest Hills) chipped in 10.

Playing for the first time in ten days, the Alfred State College women's basketball team dropped a 62-61 battle at Finger Lakes CC.  The Lady Pioneers are now 6-3 on the season.

With the game tied at 61 with 21 seconds left, FLCC was able to hit one of two foul shots to take the one-point lead.  The Pioneers grabbed the rebound on the missed second shot and raced down the court but were unable to score in two attempts.  ASC fouled FLCC again with six seconds left and got the ball back still trailing by one but could not get the game-winner to fall. 

Hoag and Dunn Named All-WNYAC

Alfred State College baseball players Garrett Hoag (Dansville) and Dylan Dunn (Hornell) have been named honorable mention All-WNYAC.

Hoag was selected as a pitcher but had a solid two-way fall season.  He led the Pioneers with a .375 batting average and drove in a team high five runs.  On the mound he struck out 26 in 24 innings of work.  He finished the season with a 1-3 mark and a 4.12 ERA.

Slow Start Dooms Pioneers

The Alfred State College men's basketball team shot shot 28.1% from the field in the 1st half and fell behind 37-21 to Fulton Montgomery CC and could never recover.  FMCC went on to win the ASC Tournament championship with a 80-70 victory.

Tournament MVP Wynn Adams led the Raiders with 18 points, six rebounds, and six assists.  Saquan Palin finished with 13 points and nine boards and Tremoyne Frazier chipped in 12 points and five assists.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team couldn't get firing on all cylinders and fell 75-56 to Fulton Montgomery CC in day two of the Alfred State Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 6-2 on the year.

Champagne Hazel led the Raiders with 24 poins while Monae Abrams chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds.  Both Hazel and Abrams were named All-Tournament.  Cheryl Osborne added 10 points for Fulton who finished 2-0 in the classic format tournament.

Pioneers Win HCCC Fall Invite

The Alfred State College men's swimming team won the Herkimer CCC Fall Invitational on Saturday while the women's team finished 5th.

Braden Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) was a triple winner to lead the Pioneers.  He won the 200 free (1:56.95), the 200 back (2:20.65), and the 500 free (5:20.12).

Fast Start Lifts Pioneers to Finals

The Alfred State College men's basketball team outscored Northern Essex CC 22-5 in the first nine minutes of the contest en route to a 71-59 victory in the 1st round of the ASC Tournament.  The Pioneers will take on Fulton Montgomery CC in the championship game tomorrow.

ASC raced out to the 17-point early lead and led by 13 at half, 35-22.  They extended their lead to 65-35 but NECC made a comeback and closed the game to 68-59 but couldn't get any closer.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team could never recover from a big run in the 1st half as they fell 72-60 to Hagerstown CC in the opening day of the ASC Tournament.  Hagerstown used a 12-0 run midway through the 1st half to grab the lead and never looked back.
