The Alfred State College women's basketball team could never recover from a big run in the 1st half as they fell 72-60 to Hagerstown CC in the opening day of the ASC Tournament.  Hagerstown used a 12-0 run midway through the 1st half to grab the lead and never looked back.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team could never recover from a big run in the 1st half as they fell 72-60 to Hagerstown CC in the opening day of the ASC Tournament.  Hagerstown used a 12-0 run midway through the 1st half to grab the lead and never looked back.

Hagerstown led 33-21 at halftime and led by as many as 16 in the 2nd half before the Lady Pioneers rallied within three points but could not get any closer.

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) led ASC with 25 points.  Amie Brooks (Pavilion) chipped in 12 while Ardaisha Hudson (Brooklyn/Food & Finance) had 11 points and 10 boards.  Nuri Bey (Bronx/HS of Computers & Technology) finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Yolonda Pinkcett led the Hawks with 26 points and 13 rebounds.  Alessandra Flores chipped in 17 and Jasmine Reynolds finished with 13.

The Pioneers shot just 31.8% from the field while HCC shot 47.1%.  The Hawks also held a 55 to 41 rebound advantage.

In the other first round contest of the classic, Fulton Montgomery CC defeated Genesee CC 68-50.

In the second day of the ASC Tournament on Sunday, Genesee CC takes on Hagerstown CC at 10 a.m. while Alfred State tangles with Fulton Montgomery CC at Noon.
