The Philadelphia-based In-Plant Impressions (IPI) has been published since 1951, according to the magazine’s website, and focuses on helping in-plant managers increase productivity and stay competitive. Articles cover successful in-plants, new graphic arts technologies, and more.

ASC employees graduate from Leadership Allegany

Alfred State College’s Brittany Richards, coordinator of Student Activities, and Christian Vernam, assistant director of Financial Aid, are among the 16 recent graduates of the Leadership Allegany program.

Alfred State College’s Brittany Richards, coordinator of Student Activities, and Christian Vernam, assistant director of Financial Aid, are among the 16 recent graduates of the Leadership Allegany program.

The program began in April and ran for nine months, providing a learning environment in which adult professionals who live, work, or have vested interest in Allegany County grow their leadership abilities, create connections, and impact their communities.

University Police raises money for ACCORD and Cancer Services

The University Police Department at Alfred State College is making spirits bright this holiday season.

Recently, Lt. Kris Bianchi and Communications Specialist Jaime Howe led an effort that raised more than $300 for the ACCORD Community Action Angels program, which helps community members in need of housewares, school supplies, personal care items, and holiday assistance. The money raised by University Police will help ACCORD purchase gift cards for children ages 13-18, just in time for the holidays.

Dr. Tezak receives Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Edward Tezak, a SUNY distinguished service professor emeritus of Alfred State College, was recently presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles.

Prior to his retirement in 2016, Tezak held a number of positions during his career at Alfred State, including dean of the School of Engineering Technology, associate professor of mechanical engineering technology, and chair of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Department.

Dr. Kellogg authors article titled ‘Foiling Burglars with Holmes and Watson’

Dr. Kellogg writes frequently about Sherlock Holmes, the legendary investigator created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He is also the creator of the Barry Baskerville series of mystery books for children.

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor emeritus of psychology at Alfred State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of Canadian Holmes, a quarterly journal published by the Bootmakers of Toronto, the Sherlock Holmes Society of Canada.

The article, titled “Foiling Burglars with Holmes and Watson,” compares the accomplishments of the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes with those of the prominent American inventor, Edwin Holmes.

Two officers from the University Police Department at Alfred State College recently presented at this year’s SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Conference in Scio.

Lt. Scott Bingham and Lt. Kris Bianchi spoke to more than 100 area high school students who were at the event to learn about healthy relationships and the lifelong hazards of sexting on their phones.

From Egypt to Allegany County: Alfred State College’s El Sayed has ‘best of both worlds’

As someone who takes great pride in both his Egyptian heritage and his American citizenship, Senior Capital Projects Manager Hady El Sayed integrates the best of both cultures into his daily life at Alfred State College (ASC).

Since moving to Wellsville from Cairo more than three years ago, El Sayed has come to embrace small town life in the US, while also staying true to his Middle Eastern roots and faith. El Sayed himself has likewise felt embraced since becoming a part of the Allegany County community.
