The Alfred State Police Academy is proud to announce that 13 recruits have graduated from the 2020 session. This year’s academy yielded a 100 percent employment rate, meaning that all of the graduates were hired by police departments.

Koester, a 2014 building trades: building construction graduate, is now a professional hill climber who has raced his way to the very top of his sport.

Thanks to another amazing show of support from alumni, faculty, staff, and friends, Alfred State College (ASC) was able to raise $218,439 this year during its fifth annual Day of Giving.

The work took place on the West Almond Trail System along trails 1, 2, and 6 and involved removing limbs, sticks, and other debris, as well as placing new trail markers. 

“This upcoming year will be our third year, and last year every one of our recruits was hired,” Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald said. “That is a good testament to our program and the work that our instructors, advisory group, and leadership are doing.”

Under the guidance of Instructor Scott Hillman, 16 HVAC students installed an entire plumbing system at a newly built house on Clark Street in Wellsville.

“My wife and I are investing in Alfred State College scholarships for today’s hard-working students to allow them to continue their education,” Barber said.

On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 31, the brothers were able to accomplish many tasks for the church, assisting with raking leaves/leaf blowing, power washing, and carrying items that were no longer needed out to the garage.

Mike Price, owner of Heritage Outdoor Sports in Phelps, recently assisted the Alfred State Archery Team by providing much-needed stands in advance of the spring outdoor season.
