Alfred State College's School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, hosted the 11th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition in March.  Competitions took place in automotive service, CNC milling, carpentry, collision repair technology, commercial baking, computer maintenance technology, cosmetology, culinary, diesel technology, job skills demonstration, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring, technical drafting, and welding.

Sr. Leadership at ASC Forfeit Upcoming Raises

unanimously agreed to forfeit their upcoming raises in order to offset current
budget deficits and give back to the College in this difficult financial
climate.

place Friday, April 3, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Orvis Activities
Center gymnasium on the Alfred campus.

Lady Pioneers Sweep Elmira JV

The Alfred State College softball team scored 17 runs and collected 21 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Elmira College JV, 6-0 and 11-1, to open up the home portion of their schedule.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 4-7 on the season.

Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) allowed just one hit in six innings of work to earn the victory in game one.  She walked two, struck out four, and contributed two RBI to the offense.  Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) was 2 for 3 with a RBI, Alicia McFarland (Avoca) was 2 for 3, and Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) was 2 for 4.

ASC Men Sit on Top of Outdoor Track Poll, Women 3rd

The Alfred State College men's outdoor track and field team is ranked #1 in the first NJCAA Division III poll of the 2009 season.  The women are currently ranked #3.

The Alfred State College men's outdoor track and field team is ranked #1 in the first NJCAA Division III poll of the 2009 season.  The women are currently ranked #3.

The men have a strong start to the 2009 outdoor season coming off a Region III Championship indoor season.  The Pioneers finished 2nd out of ten teams at the Howard (MD) CC Dragon Invitational and then won the ASC Quad meet this past Friday.

Bergen (NJ) CC, Harper (IL) College, SUNY Delhi, and Gloucester (NJ) County College trail the Pioneers in the national poll.

Baseball Falls Twice at Lackawanna

The Alfred State College baseball team jumped out to early leads in both halves of a doubleheader at Lackawanna College but the Falcons rallied for victories in both games, 9-8 and 9-5.  The Pioneers fall to 4-9 on the season.

In the opener, ASC scored four in the first but had to rally for three runs in the 7th to tie the game only to see Matt Rossi hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 7th to lead the Falcons to the victory.

Pioneers Lax Battle Tough but Fall to Herkimer

The Alfred State College lacrosse team hung tough with #2 ranked Herkimer CCC on Saturday trailing by just three at half, 11-8, but was unable to close the deficit and fell 20-14 to the Generals.  ASC concludes their three-game season opening road trip with a 2-1 mark while HCCC improves to 4-1.

Churchville Chili graduates Ben Rossignolo and Ryan Grogan led the Pioneers offensive attack.  Rossignolo finished with six points on four goals and two assists while Grogan was credited with four goals.

Pioneers Win Track Quad

Both the men's and women's Alfred State College track and field teams finished on top of the ASC Quad Meet held Friday afternoon.  The men scored 186.5 points while the women scored 138 points.
