The Alfred State College softball team scored 17 runs and collected 21 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Elmira College JV, 6-0 and 11-1, to open up the home portion of their schedule.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 4-7 on the season.

The Alfred State College softball team scored 17 runs and collected 21 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Elmira College JV, 6-0 and 11-1, to open up the home portion of their schedule.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 4-7 on the season.

Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) allowed just one hit in six innings of work to earn the victory in game one.  She walked two, struck out four, and contributed two RBI to the offense.  Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) was 2 for 3 with a RBI, Alicia McFarland (Avoca) was 2 for 3, and Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) was 2 for 4.

In game two, The Lady Pioneers scored three runs in the 3rd and six in the 4th to break open a 2-1 contest.  Jessica Herbst (Naples) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and pitched four shutout innings to earn the victory.  Theleman was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI, Katherine McCarthy (Orchard Park) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, and Hillary York (Canisteo Greenwood) was 2 for 2.  Leandra Spoor (Laurens) also chipped in two hits.

ASC has over a week off before hosting Erie CC on April 8 for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
