Ashley Weakland, a 2017 graduate of Alfred State’s surveying engineering technology program, recently made history when she became the first woman ever appointed as assistant Hornell Department of Public Works (DPW) superintendent.

LeChase Construction Services, LLC has announced that Alfred State College alum Laird Updyke has been promoted to project executive in the Syracuse office.

Alfred State College (ASC) is pleased to announce that it has received a $50,000 grant from the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation. This grant will benefit ASC’s heavy equipment operations program, as well as the college’s Doc Bruce Fundraising Campaign that aims to bolster the construction management program.

Dr. John Williams, dean of the School of Architecture, Management and Engineering Technology at Alfred State, said, “Having the majority of our technology programs recognized by ABET highlights the strength of our faculty and programs and the great experience provided to our students.”

Collectively, the 28 Alfred State students scored five points higher than the national average and accounted for a pass rate that was 9 percent higher than the nationwide rate. Altogether, more than 1,300 students from around the country participated in the exam.

Alfred State College’s own Abigail Campbell and Justin Campbell, both of Geneseo, were recently awarded scholarship grants from the Construction Advancement Institute (CAI).

Nine students were recently installed in the Zeta V Chapter of the Sigma Lambda Chi (SLC) honor society at Alfred State.   

Alfred State College's construction management program was the focus of a recent article featured on FUEL, a website run by "word-toting construction junkies who build articles and drill into the details of construction."

Competing against seven other schools, Alfred State placed third in the design-build division in this year’s Associated Schools of Construction Region 1 Student Competition held last month in Albany.

Alfred State recently installed five students in the Zeta V Chapter of the Sigma Lambda Chi honor society.
