Ashley Weakland, a 2017 graduate of Alfred State’s surveying engineering technology program, recently made history when she became the first woman ever appointed as assistant Hornell Department of Public Works (DPW) superintendent.
According to an article by The Spectator, Weakland worked as a roofer and at a sheet metal company in Connecticut before joining Hornell’s DPW as an engineering aide in February 2014.
