Alfred State College (ASC) is using the upcoming inauguration of Dr. Steven Mauro as an opportunity to celebrate the college and the entire WNY region including the great food that is found here. The reception following ASC inauguration ceremonies on October 20 is titled “A Taste of Western New York.”

The Culinary Arts department will host a sit down five-course Oktoberfest dinner on Oct. 13 at Alfred State’s Wellsville campus. The dinner is $25 each and the proceeds will benefit Culinary Arts scholarships.

ASC’s Center for Community Education and Training to offer Credentialed Prevention Professional course work

The Center for Community Education and Training (CCET) at Alfred State has received approval from the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) to offer the 250 hour Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) program.

Excavation is underway on Alfred State’s loop road to replace, update, and expand underground infrastructure throughout the entire campus.

Seventeen teams competed at the 2nd Annual Alfred State Open organized by the Class of 1978 at the Springville Country Club (Springville, NY). The team of Timothy O’Tool, Eric Buchnowski, Ken Strell, and Travis Benson took home the team honors with a score of 62.

Dr. David Ray and his criminal justice class acted quickly to neutralize the threat and the emergency drill was deemed a success.

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Gregory Sammons donned the defensive suit and simulated the threat for this exercise. He noted “it was an affirmation of our readiness to find so many doors locked and people taking the right precautions. I also want to congratulate Dr. Ray and his class for their physically assertive response. They were not passive, and I had no chance to act before they had me immobilized on the floor.”
