The Alfred State College Performing Arts Department would like to invite you, your family, and friends to its free, annual Instrumental Music Winter Concert, “A Holiday Spectacular,” on Friday, Dec. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center Cappadonia Auditorium.

According to a new academic articulation agreement executed between Genesee Community College (GCC) and Alfred State College (ASC) earlier this month, students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management degree can start the program by earning 50 transferable credits at Genesee Community College!

Community leaders in Canaseraga and the town of Burns are looking to revitalize their hometown with the help of some ideas put forth by Alfred State College architecture students.

As a way to celebrate and recognize the importance of cultural diversity, as well as international education and exchange, Alfred State College (ASC) recently held a series of events to coincide with International Education Week.

In addition to its recent academic acclaim from several respected online ranking resources, Alfred State College is also receiving lots of praise from its students.

Approximately 200 students from Alfred State, Alfred University, and Houghton College recently engaged in a variety of community service projects throughout Allegany County during the seventh annual Celebrate Service, Celebrate Allegany day of service event.

The college has recently expanded its academic offerings to now include associate and bachelor’s degree programs in mechatronics technology. Classes for these programs will begin in the fall 2019 semester.

The ever-evolving Fassett GreenSpace in Wellsville is becoming not only more beautiful, but more musical, as well, thanks in part to some Alfred State College students.

Once construction is finished, the 55th house that the college has built for the Wellsville community will include 1,800 square feet of space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open-concept floor plan, a large master suite, outdoor living space, and a full basement. The house is located at 3867 Foundation Drive in Wellsville.

Recently, the PAL students held a food drive on both campuses, in which they encouraged fellow students, faculty, and staff to bring in any canned goods and nonperishable items and donate them in designated boxes.

This year, Alfred State is looking to raise $150,000 from 700 donors for its big day. 

Several Alfred State College students and employees recently attended the 91^st annual National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, IN, where they set up a recruiting booth and spoke with numerous students about the benefits of an Alfred State education.

Dr. Kellogg writes frequently about Sherlock Holmes, the legendary investigator created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He is also the creator of the Barry Baskerville series of mystery books for children.

For students looking to enter into court reporting or any number of in-demand STEM-related fields such as information technology, surveying, or architectural technology, Alfred State College is rated an excellent choice by several online ranking resources. 

Participating in the trip were four building trades: building construction students: Kyle Coffey, of Caledonia; Justin Higgins, of Buffalo; Sasha Johnson, of Webster; and Gavin Hamilton, of New City, along with Brady Adams, instructor in the Building Trades Department.

Classico Italiana dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at The Rig located inside the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus. Cost of the meal is $17 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under.

Fourteen Alfred State College architecture students recently met with Andover village trustees to present their plan for improving the 200-plus-year-old municipality.

The students were among several hundred archers from across multiple disciplines who competed for top honors in the “3-D” season – a strategic form of archery using foam targets with irregular scoring rings at varying distances, terrain, and lighting conditions.

The fall 2018 career fairs drew more employers to both campuses to recruit students than any previous career fairs.
