Court reporting and captioning students at Alfred State are marking National Court Reporting and Captioning Week, Feb. 16-22, by participating in a national veteran’s oral history project coordinated by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the leading organization representing stenographic court reporting and broadcast captioning professionals.

Sport Management Students Compete in Chapel Hill, NC

College Sport Research Institution teamA team of four Alfred State sport management students has been selected by the College Sport Research Institution (CSRI) to compete in the 2013 Undergraduate Student Case Study Competition in Chapel Hill, NC, on April 17.

A team of four Alfred State Dr. Rhema Fuller, assistant professor, sport management, is the faculty advisor for the team. Court Reporting Instructor Transcribes Historical Account by Area WWII Veteran

Finished Transcription to be donated to the Library of Congress

A piece of American history was captured at Alfred State last week when court reporting instructor Danielle Green transcribed an oral account of World War II given by area veteran Paul Gerling, 87, of Wayland, NY.

Green transcribed Gerling’s oral account using the state-of-the art tools of court reporting professionals. The account was simultaneously transcribed and videotaped while Gerling was interviewed by his daughter, greendr@alfredstate.edu.
