Alfred State College recently hosted 350 Future Farmers of America students from 21 western New York high schools for the 32^nd annual Agriculture Skills Contest.

Alfred State College recently honored Daniel Woolston, assistant director of Health and Wellness Services, and Jessica Lippa, assistant professor of Nursing, with the Leadership through Civic Engagement Award.

During the scholarship award presentation at Alfred State, the students were presented with Forty & Eight emblem training pins.

A total of 154 students presented 138 science and technology projects to the judges for a chance at a share of the $1,590 in prize money. Participants were divided into three divisions: senior (grades 10-12), junior (grades seven through nine), and novice (grades four through six).

Alfred State College (ASC) nursing students in the Hope for Health Club will once again be providing some much-needed medical aid to residents of Haiti when they travel to the country this coming May.

Alfred State agricultural technology student Andrew Richards, of Silver Springs, recently represented the college as a 2018 Ambassador at the 185th New York State Agricultural Society Annual Meeting and Forum in Syracuse. 

Elaine Morsman, director of the Career Development Center at Alfred State, noted that the demand for employees in these fields is stronger than ever, and that ASC is well-suited to help meet that demand. 

The article, titled “Philip Wylie's Superspy,” discusses a spy novel written by noted writer Philip Wylie (1902-1971).

In December, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that requires future registered nurse (RN) graduates of associate degree and diploma nursing programs to finish a baccalaureate completion program in nursing within 10 years after initial licensure in New York State.

To keep its students competitive in an evolving agricultural industry, Alfred State is diversifying its educational offerings.
