Associate Professor at Alfred State College, 2002 – 2017. Teaching experience specifically concentrated within Motor and Motor Controls, Power Distribution Systems, PV and Wind Turbine system design and installation, Electrical Theory, National Electrical Code understanding /interpretation and Residential Wiring. Taught at both 1st year and 2nd year levels within the Electricians training program. Facilitated submission and receipt of national recognition for Alfred as an IREC accredited training institution.
PV Training Network instructor – NYSERDA PV Sun 2014-18. Lead instructor assigned to western New York region of the PV master Training Network. Worked within the guide of national master trainers through the PV Trainers Network and Erie Community College. Training clientele include community professionals: Code officials and designers, Architects and Engineers, Firefighters and First responders. Focused training within current NEC and IEC codes. All students receive training specific to their area of expertise in regards to PV system design and installation regarding commercial and residential buildings.
RES training instructor –2004-current. Curriculum development, organization and teaching of Renewable Energy Systems including both Photovoltaic design and installation and Small Wind Turbine systems across New York State. Teaching both for-credit courses and not-for-credit courses various institutions and organizations. Inclusive of Alfred State College, Erie Community College, and NYS CSEA. Awarded IREC accreditation as a Certified Master PV Trainer.
Alfred State College Dean - School of Applied Technology, April 2017 - Present. Direct supervisor for 75 teaching faculty, support and administrative staff, for 1000+ students for SUNY Alfred State College across 2 campuses. The School of Applied Technology encompasses 5 departments that specialize in training within 12 specialty trade specific programs for 750+ students. Additional control/management duties for the 15-acre property located 18 miles from the college inclusive of joint Academic and personnel oversight for SAT extension campus in Buffalo NY. 240+Students and faculty for 3 programs. Initialized the startup in 2017 and maintain administrative oversight. Collaboration and coordination management with the Educational Foundation of Alfred (campus property owners) for operations budget, buildings and grounds maintenance, and new/upgrades to property. Duties include administrative management of direct reports and faculty. Management over daily organization and operations of the 2 campuses fiscal management, budget development/oversight for programs and awards. Conflict resolution for both personnel issues and student issues Grant management of awards directly relating to the campus and collaborative procurement of new grant requests.
Alfred State College Department Chair – Electrical Trades, 2015 – 2017. Department Chairman for the Electrical Trades Department of nine Full time faculty and four staff. Duties include: Oversight of personnel management, faculty and staff reviews, and faculty development. Curriculum development and program and course updates. Budget development and management, IA funds and Student IFR accounts. Student services, management and conflict mediation. Initiated approval and use of course fees for student materials in lieu of state funding. Oversight of search committees for department personnel positions searches. Facilitated submission and receipt of national recognition for Alfred as an IREC nationally accredited training institution. Corporate partnership development, Funding support, Employee student support. Program growth increased 100%.
Owner/ Operator of For Him Electric, Inc., 2000-2011. A company serving a work base that includes both residential and commercial electrical work in and around the Pueblo, Colorado area. New construction, remodels, service and maintenance work of all aspects. The customer base to include such businesses as Pepsi Bottling Group of Southern Colorado, providing building maintenance, new installations and servicing of machines and related power. Pikes Peak International Raceway, with service work involving maintenance, troubleshooting, race support as well as design and installation of site electrical upgrades and additions. Service and design/installation for various other commercial businesses and accounts in the Pueblo area, including, Home Depot, Albertsons, Lamar Outdoor Advertising, Safeway and Krage Manufacturing. Residential customers in addition to the general homeowner market include Corsentino Construction and Cox Construction, companies specializing in catering to custom built, remodel and additions of homes. Cindy Lee Bennett and Associates a company focused of design build and custom home construction. Arrigo Construction, a company focused on the assessment and estimates for insurance repair costs as well as the physical repairs for homes and businesses involved in fire and water damage. Prior training experience involved employment with Riviera Electric of Colorado as an electrician apprentice, completed apprenticeship with them and obtained a State Journeyman Electricians license 1997. Earned State Master Electricians license in 2000. Building and completion of projects including the Colorado Springs Airport, Pikes Peak International Raceway, Coors Field, USAA, MCI and many other large commercial/industrial type jobs. The work involved in these type of projects encompassed the initial project ground breaking to electrical distribution wiring; rough in to complete trim out and turn over which included a maintained presence for both servicing and upgrading of the buildings. For the last two years I was a service technician with responsibilities that included small tenant finishes, service work, and troubleshooting/repair for a variety of commercial customers with either a solo or light crew present where I oversaw and managed the total electrical responsibility of project, start to completion, as well as any follow up, change orders, or repairs that were needed.
