Tony Aquilina was named Assistant Professor of Sport Management in the Fall of 2022 .
Aquilina joins Alfred State after serving at Alfred University as The Associate Director of Athletics from 2017-2022. From that role, Aquilina brings relevant sport industry experience into the classroom.
As Associate Director of Athletics at AU, Aquilina ran all daily operations for the department; supervised 6 NCAA varsity sports teams annually; oversaw all athletic facilities all event management, NCAA compliance, 20+ team & departmental budgets, served as tournament director for all NCAA, ECAC and Empire 8 Conference postseason events and hired, trained, supervised and monitored payroll for more than 150 student workers staffing on-campus athletic events. He led numerous athletic facility renovation projects on campus during his tenure.
Aquilina also oversaw the creation of the new life skills program, strength & conditioning program, equipment room, intramural sports, university fitness center- scheduling facility usage for teams, clubs and groups using AU athletic facilities, including the Joyce and Walton Center for Health and Wellness; served as point of contact for all facility operations
Prior to Alfred University, Aquilina spent time as Assistant Athletic Director at Misericordia University in Dallas, PA
Aquilina has a Master’s Degree in Sports Management and Media at Ithaca College, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Communications from SUNY Cortland in 2011, while working the New York Jets training camp hosted at the college.
