Charles Craig was honored for his service and support of Alfred State College at the annual President's Society Dinner held at the Lake Lodge. Craig was awarded the President's Medallion.

Craig has served as a member of the College Council since Nov. 16, 2004. His service and advocacy for the College have helped guide the growth and development of the College.

He and his fellow council members serve without salary as an advisory group to the president. Authority of the Council is in such areas as but not limited to regulations governing student conduct, regulations concerning care and management of campus facilities, review of academic programs, approval of candidates for college degrees, and selection of the College president.

Craig recently retired as the Senior Vice President of Science and Technology, Administration, and Operations at Corning Incorporated. He has served as Chief of Staff for six consecutive Chief Technology Officers. He joined Corning in 1974 and in 2023 celebrated his 49th year with the company.

His impact reaches well beyond Alfred State. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Corning in 2017 and was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Professional Achievement from his alma mater Dickinson College in 2020.

On top of his service to Alfred State, Charles has served on the Board of Trustees at Clarkson University and has served on the American Management Association. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Incubator Works which sponsors the Startup Allegany Collegiate Competition which Alfred State students have won the past two years.

Honoring Charles Craig was part of an evening that celebrated and thanked generous donors to Alfred State. Dr. Mauro gave attendees updates on the College and presented the institution's new strategic plan.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Carrie Cokely was one of the guests that enjoyed the President's Society dinner.

The evening also featured a fitting tribute to Pat Fogarty. Fogarty, who served as the College Council for most of the last four decades, passed away in August.

“We are so proud to host this event each year, taking time to thank the members of the President's Society or our Legacy Society for their support to the College,” commented Vice President of Institutional Advancement Danielle White. “These gifts impact so many areas of the College including our students, programs, and our facilities. Your generosity has helped us to achieve the #1 ranking among SUNY regional colleges according to US News and World Report.”

Attendees enjoyed appetizers, dinner, and dessert while hearing an update on the college's new strategic plan.

The President's Society is a dedicated group of alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations who support the College through contributions of $1,000 or more annually, along with our Legacy donors who have named Alfred State within their planned gifts. Each fall, the College holds a recognition dinner in honor of the President's Society & Legacy Society members.
