In addition to your attentive faculty, Alfred State caters to every online student with even more personal attention and services at your disposal. 

  • Academic Advisors are provided through the ASC Student Success Center.
  • Success Coaches also help with time management, scheduling, and perseverance.
  • Admissions Counselors are assigned to online students, so you know them, and they know you.

  • Find a quiet place to attend remote classes and for study time.
  • Make a plan to access all the technology you need.
  • Remove non-academic tech nearby (TV, phone, video games).
  • Communicate to others about your need for a quiet space.



  • Check all of your technology to make sure it works.
  • Login to Alfred State with the portals, MyLearning, etc.

  • Ask for academic support through Starfish on and "Raise Your Hand."



  • Know the expectations of your instructors.
  • Track your list of due dates, assignments, exams, papers, and projects.
  • Put all of your class-related items in one location so you can find them.
  • Check your email and myLearning to keep up with any changes.


Developa Schedule

  • Write down important dates from the syllabus.
  • Set up a daily or weekly calendar to find the time needed for success.
  • Communicate your class and study schedules with others in your household to coordinate activities and gain their support for your studies.



  • Check your Alfred State email and the myLearning portal.
  • Know how to contact your instructors, advisor, and academic success coach.
  • Use discussion boards for more help.
  • Schedule math or writing tutors online.
  • Gain help with your resume and job interview skills from ASC Career Development.
