A minor in Mathematics is open to all majors at a bachelor degree level. The minor is designed to enrich the student's skills in mathematics and may be of particular interest to students in engineering curricula. Applications of mathematical techniques in solving real-world problems are emphasized and are reinforced throughout the program. To be eligible to receive a minor, a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 in the minor courses must be attained.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the minor, the student will be able to do the following:
- Interpret and draw inferences from mathematical models such as formulas, tables, and schematics.
- Represent mathematical information symbolically, visually, numerically, and verbally.
- Employ quantitative methods such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, or statistics to solve problems.
- Estimate and check mathematical results for reasonableness.
- Appraise the limits of mathematical and statistical models.
