Alfred State College first year diver Conor Compton (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna – Heavy Equipment Operations) earned a spot a the NCAA Division III National Championships with a 2nd place finish in the 3m diving competition at the NCAA Regionals held at Ithaca College.

Alfred State’s Jessalyn Corson (Apalachin, NY) rode her way to the IHSA Semifinals with a strong showing at the Western Regionals held at Alfred University’s Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center.

We wanted to showcase their great work and give them a channel to share their work with others. We also hope they explore what we have to offer here at Alfred State to enhance their education.”

Both the Alfred State men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams won AMCC Championships. The men’s team also claimed the overall team title for the Allegheny Empire Championship.

The Alfred State wrestling team won eight individual weight class titles as they raced to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers scored 136 team points in the inaugural championship event held at Penn State Behrend.

“You don’t need a certain dress or style to be beautiful – you have the power to make any dress, no matter the shape or size, look gorgeous on you,” commented Marina Miketish on behalf of her fellow sisters of Delta Chi Omega. “This event ties in so well with our other philanthropy project, Project Pearl, which teaches Love Your Body, Love Yourself.”

The Alfred State College Western Equestrian team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of strong showings in their final competition before the IHSA Western Regionals. The Pioneers were the Reserve Hi-Point team for both the AM and PM show.

“I made an appointment to have my resume reviewed. The experience was not like what I expected. I got interviewed and I was asked questions about my major. I came away with a resume that employers have commented that it is good. I included a lot of the skills that I have developed here at Alfred State. It is a free resource that is available. It is good to have someone that has seen hundreds of resumes look at your resume.”

Hands-on education is at the center of every major in the School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College (ASC). Students learn these real-world skills and are prepared to join the 98 percent of ASC students who are employed or continuing their education. This applied learning approach has led to amazing honors for 2023 from many ranking experts.
