The Alfred State wrestling team won eight individual weight class titles as they raced to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers scored 136 team points in the inaugural championship event held at Penn State Behrend.

The Alfred State wrestling team won eight individual weight class titles as they raced to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers scored 136 team points in the inaugural championship event held at Penn State Behrend.

125 lb. weight class: Mason Drew (Hornell, NY - Criminal Justice) pinned Zach Dellinger (Penn State Behrend) in 5:39 after pinning Ian Fuentes (Hiram) in 52 seconds in the semifinals.

133 lb. weight class: Zachary Levey (Horseheads, NY - Radiologic Technology) pinned Mitch Headley (Penn State Behrend) in 1:12 in the semifinals and claimed the championship after a medical forfeit by his teammate Elijah Moshenek (Ringgold, VA - Welding). Moshenek had advanced to the finals with a 9-0 win over Will Brodbeck (Hiram).

141 lb. weight class: Sean Peterson (Islip, NY - Technology Management) won by pinfall in 2:49 over Alex Savering (Hiram) after pinning Michael Inks (Penn State Behrend) in 34 seconds in the semifinals.

149 lb. weight class: Dom Vinci (Spencerport, NY - Electrical Construction) defeated his teammate Ethan Morrison (Marathon, NY - Automotive Service Technician) 7-4 decision in the finals after pinning Henry Cummings (Pitt Bradford) in the semifinals in 1:48. Morrison had pinned Grayson Smith (Hiram) and Hunter Savitz (Penn State Behrend) to reach the finals. 

157 lb. weight class: Anthony Miraglia (Byron, NY - Sport Management) took a victory by medical forfeit against teammate Justin Smith (Rushville, NY - Marcus Whitman). Miraglia pinned Andrew Maser (Penn State Behrend) in 1:13 and won 10-2 over Kaelon Lawson-West (Hiram) to advance to the finals whiel Smith pinned Farhid Negahban (Pitt Bradford) in 1:05 and defeated Zach Edwards (Penn State Behrend) 18-1.

174 lb. weight class: Johnny Layfield (Wellsville, NY - Electrical Construction) pinned teammate Justin Hoffman (Hadley, NY - Diesel Mechanics) in 2:37 in the championship bout. He entered the tournament the #3 seed and upset Jimmy Thomas (Hiram) 3-2 in OT to advance to the finals. Hoffman pinned the top seed Colton Geitler (Pitt Bradford) in 6:18 to advance to the finals. 

184 lb. weight class: Sean Malenfant (Averill Park, NY - Masonry) pinned Kyle Keefe (Pitt Bradford) in 2:24 to claim the title after pinning Eric Liu (Penn State Behrend) in 28 seconds in the semifinals.

197 lb. weight class: Blake Ilges (Canisteo, NY - Electrical Engineering Technology) earned a 5-1 decision over Nathan Powley (Pitt Bradford) in the finals. He pinned Zach Harper (Hiram) in his opening match in 1:11 and defeated Dylan Barber (Penn State Behrend) 11-1 to advance to the finals.

The Pioneers now shift their focus and head to the Mideast Regional Championships at Ithaca College Feb. 24-25.
