"Recently, at commencement, I looked out at all the proud parents who were there to celebrate the milestone for our students. I share their excitement because I know what a tremendous job our faculty have done educating them on the skills, they know employers are looking for when hiring. Students at Alfred State are learning real-world skills that prepare them for great-paying careers.”

Alfred State College (ASC) gained a top ten ranking nationally when compared to colleges with tuition of $14,000 or less, according to rankings published by US News & World Report.

Included on the list are much larger schools like Brigham Young University and California State University – Fresno as ASC is keeping company with a very limited number of schools offering a high-quality education at such a low cost.

“We have so much to offer students, so our value is extremely high,” commented Alfred State President Dr. Steve Mauro. “Rankings like this symbolize the great work taking place in our classrooms and labs. Why do students choose Alfred State? Business administration major Kaitlyn Wheeler (Farmington, NY) says she enjoys the tight-knit community that supports her as she pursues her academic goals. “When I came here, I felt like I fit in, and it is more student focused. I loved the small class sizes and the homey environment that I felt.”

Tyler Petery (Swanksville, PA), a cybersecurity graduate, added, “I have been able to deepen my understanding in my field as well as gain practical experience. This exposure has helped put me ahead of my competition.”

Alfred State in-state students pay $7,070 for tuition, and through the Freeway Scholarship program, out-of-state students can attend the college at the same cost.

Marketing major Ashleigh Bair (Eldred, PA) received the Freeway Scholarship, and it made her decision to cross the border to attend college more affordable. “I am paying less for my tuition than I would if I were attending a state school in my home state.”

Alfred State has recently gained many honors: Named an “Opportunity College and University” with exceptional scores for access and earnings that lead in the US, top Western New York public school for return on investment from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce, top NYS school for affordability for low-income and first-generation families as judged by AffordableColleges.com, and Alfred State confirmed a nearly-perfect 99 percent employment and continuing education rate for graduates.
