To Kaitlyn, Alfred State is not just a college, it is a home.

At a glance

“I thought I made the right decision at first. I was at a different college, and I just was not happy. I did not feel like I fit in, and I had friends that went to Alfred State and whenever I was on this campus I just felt like I belonged. There was always something to do.”

“I thought I made the right decision at first. I was at a different college, and I just was not happy. I did not feel like I fit in, and I had friends that went to Alfred State and whenever I was on this campus I just felt like I belonged. There was always something to do.”

Kaitlyn decided to make a change. After taking a tour and applying she was accepted.  “I was over the moon. When I came here, I felt like I fit in, and it is more student focused. I loved the small class sizes and the homey environment that I felt.”

Academically, Kaitlyn enjoys the career flexibility her studies in business administration brings. “You can do so many different things, you can go into a million different career fields, there is not just one job that you can have. That is very useful in this day and age.”

Kaitlyn has always been good with numbers and presentations, so she has enjoyed her marketing and accounting classes. Her experiences have been enhanced by the relationships she has built with her professors.

“I feel very connected to a few of them. I had them a few semesters ago I still pop into their office, and they still help me if I need it.”

On top of her studies, Kaitlyn enjoys her job as a campus ambassador. She shows prospective students and their families all around campus.

“The best part of Alfred State is the people,” continued Kaitlyn. “Alfred is a very welcoming environment. No matter where you go there is always something to do. There is always a club, a sport, or a team you can join. You can even make your own club to feel like you fit in.
